Quote of the Day (Nov. 30, 2007)

November 30, 2007

Quotemarks "This is a good-news, bad-news story. The good news is the Red Cross board acted deliberately and transparently to address a governance problem. The bad news is that, once again, the Red Cross is in the spotlight with a negative story, which will continue to erode the public’s trust in major philanthropic organizations.”

-- John Graham IV, CAE, president & CEO, ASAE (as quoted in The NonProfit Times)

I think i missed the whole significance of a ceo having sex with an underling. Yes, it's apparently against company policy, but why all the brouhaha? I mean, dude steps down, next person steps in -- what's the big deal? Are nonprofit people supposed to be non-sex, too?

It's like we've been transported back to a Republican Congress going after Clinton because he was having sex with a straight intern.

What is the conclusion, here? That sleeping with an underling makes you a bad manager? A bad person? A bad organization?

The whole thing is bizarre to me...
